A.P. Kelson - Jeweler, Gemologist and Appraiser
A.P. Kelson has been in the jewelry
business for over 31
years. He has a wide breadth of experience in both the wholesale and retail
end of the trade. He worked as a Gemologist in the diamond grading lab of a
major wholesale diamond house and DeBeers sight holder. Because of this
experience, he was hired as a staff Gemologist with the Gem Trade Laboratory
of the Gemological Institute of America. The GIA is the national training
school of the Jewelry Industry. Its Gem Trade Laboratory is regarded by the
diamond industry as its “supreme court” when it comes to grading
diamond quality.

After leaving the GIA, Mr. Kelson began purchasing
vintage estate jewelry and antique silver throughout Montana, the US
and Europe; and is considered to be an expert in the stylistic
identification and valuation of antique jewelry, sterling silver flatware
and hollow-ware, as well as porcelain, bronze, and gemstone objects of vertu.
Mr. Kelson is a Graduate Gemologist of the Gemological
Institute of America. He studied at Christie’s auction house in
London in their fine and decorative arts program. He has a Master’s degree
in Valuation Science (appraising) from Lindenwood University in St. Charles,
Missouri. He is a Charter Senior Member of the National Association of
Jewelry Appraisers; a member of the British Society of Jewelry Historians; and a national lecturer on the history and style of
antique jewelry and silver.
